A Comprehensive Systematic Review on the Diagnostic Accuracy and Performance of Imaging Techniques in Infarction Stroke Detection
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Imaging techniques such as MRI and CT play a critical role in the management of ischemic stroke, a serious condition caused by a sudden reduction in blood flow to the brain. The ability to correlate imaging performance and diagnostic precision is essential for developing more effective strategies for detecting this condition in specific patient groups. Methods: Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this systematic review focused exclusively on full-text articles published in English between 2014 and 2024. Result: The study conducted a comprehensive review of over 100 publications sourced from reputable databases, including ScienceDirect, SagePub, and PubMed. Following an initial screening, six publications were identified as warranting more in-depth analysis. Consequently, a thorough review of these selected studies was performed to ensure a detailed and rigorous evaluation. Conclusion: Advanced imaging techniques, particularly CT and MRI, are vital for ensuring accurate diagnosis and timely treatment for stroke patients. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence hold promise for expediting the diagnostic process and minimizing errors, especially in the management of acute ischemic strokes. Non-contrast CT and CT angiography remain foundational in stroke evaluation, with the ASPECTS method providing valuable insight into early brain changes. Perfusion imaging is instrumental in identifying infarcted tissue and aiding treatment decisions for patients with AIS.
