A Systematic Review of the Effectiveness of Health Promotion Lifestyle Interventions on Weight Management in Individuals with Psychosis
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: The impact of lifestyle interventions on individuals with psychotic disorders is both complex and multifactorial. These interventions, which include smoking cessation, increased physical activity, and improved dietary habits, are designed to mitigate obesity and reduce cardiovascular disease risk factors. Methods: Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this systematic review focused exclusively on full-text articles published in English between 2014 and 2024. Result: The study conducted a comprehensive review of over 100 publications sourced from reputable databases, including ScienceDirect, SagePub, and PubMed. Following an initial screening, four publications were identified as warranting more in-depth analysis. Consequently, a thorough review of these selected studies was performed to ensure a detailed and rigorous evaluation. Conclusion: The review assessed the efficacy of lifestyle interventions in improving health behaviors, such as physical activity and healthy eating, in individuals with psychosis. While these interventions led to an increase in physical activity, they did not result in significant clinical improvements, suggesting that the duration of the interventions may not have been sufficient to achieve meaningful outcomes.
