Evaluating the Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Subcutaneous Rituximab in Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Systematic Review
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHL) represent a heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative malignancies and are a significant cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Rituximab, a CD20-targeting monoclonal antibody, has revolutionized the treatment of B-cell malignancies, including DLBCL and FL. The introduction of subcutaneous (SC) rituximab offers an alternative to intravenous (IV) administration, improving patient convenience and reducing healthcare resource use. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature search across PubMed, Scopus, and other relevant databases, focusing on studies published between 2014 and 2024. Results: The included studies consistently demonstrated that SC rituximab offers comparable efficacy and safety to IV administration, with no new safety concerns identified. Conclusion: SC rituximab provides a non-inferior alternative to IV administration for patients with B-cell malignancies, offering significant advantages in terms of treatment convenience, patient satisfaction, and healthcare efficiency. Future research should focus on long-term outcomes and cost-effectiveness to further support its broader implementation in clinical practice.
