Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: This study aims to provide of efficacy and safety comparing holmium laser enucleation of the prostate with transurethral resection on prostate. Methods: Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this systematic review focused exclusively on full-text articles published in English between 2014 and 2024. Result: The study conducted a comprehensive review of over 100 publications sourced from reputable databases, including ScienceDirect, SagePub, and PubMed. Following an initial screening, five publications were identified as warranting more in-depth analysis. Consequently, a thorough review of these selected studies was performed to ensure a detailed and rigorous evaluation. Conclusion: HoLEP provides a shorter catheterization time, a shorter hospital stay, improved safety, and removes more prostate tissue for LUTS patients with a prostate volume smaller than 100 mL/100 g. However, HoLEP has a lower PVR at 6 and 12 months in terms of postoperative efficacy, and its other efficacy outcomes and complications are comparable to those of TURP.
