Prognostic Factors Influencing Hearing Outcomes in Otitis Media Patients with ANCA-Associated Vasculitis: A Systematic Review
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: This study aims to systematically review of clinical studies to identify potential prognostic factors influencing hearing outcomes in patients with otitis media associated with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (OMAAV). The goal is to offer clinical guidance to help prevent severe, irreversible hearing loss that could significantly impact patients' quality of life. Methods: Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this systematic review focused exclusively on full-text articles published in English between 2014 and 2024. Result: The study conducted a comprehensive review of over 2,000 publications sourced from reputable databases, including ScienceDirect, SagePub, and PubMed. Following an initial screening, four publications were identified as warranting more in-depth analysis. Consequently, a thorough review of these selected studies was performed to ensure a detailed and rigorous evaluation. Conclusion: This systematic review and meta-analysis identified facial palsy, hypertrophic pachymeningitis, and ANCA negativity as significant factors associated with a poor hearing prognosis in OMAAV patients. These findings offer valuable insights into diagnosis and treatment strategies for protecting patients' hearing.
