Chronic Kidney Disease Diagnosis and Management
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasingly recognized as a significant global health issue, characterized by a progressive decline in renal function and associated complications that can lead to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) and cardiovascular morbidity. Literature Review: The analysis of the articles underscores the critical importance of awareness regarding CKD among both healthcare providers and patients. (Evans et al., 2021) emphasize the low levels of CKD awareness, which significantly hampers early intervention efforts. This lack of awareness is particularly concerning given that CKD often remains asymptomatic until advanced stages, highlighting the necessity for enhanced screening and educational initiatives. (N Clements, 2022) builds upon this foundation by addressing the specific management strategies tailored for individuals with type 2 diabetes, a population at heightened risk for CKD. The review indicates that effective pharmacotherapy and adherence to clinical guidelines are crucial for optimizing outcomes in this demographic. (Alkhatib et al., 2023) further emphasize the importance of lifestyle modifications and nutritional interventions in managing CKD progression. They argue that addressing modifiable risk factors, such as obesity and uncontrolled diabetes, is essential for delaying disease advancement. Additionally, (Géza Pethő et al., 2024) provide a comprehensive overview of current and emerging therapies for CKD management, advocating for early diagnosis and the exploration of novel treatment options to improve patient outcomes. Conclusion: The collective insights from these articles illustrate the urgent need for a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to CKD diagnosis and management. The literature emphasizes the importance of early detection, tailored treatment strategies, and ongoing education for both patients and healthcare providers. As CKD continues to rise in prevalence, the call for innovative solutions and comprehensive care strategies becomes increasingly critical.
