Breast Cancer Chemoprevention
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: The literature on breast cancer chemoprevention has witnessed substantial advancements, emphasizing the importance of personalized strategies tailored to individual risk profiles. The integration of molecular insights and tumor-specific risk models is pivotal for identifying high-risk individuals who would benefit most from chemoprevention. Literature Review: The need for effective preventive measures against various breast cancer subtypes, particularly estrogen-receptor-negative cancers, has been highlighted (C. Litzenburger and H. Brown, 2014). This diversification in target agents is crucial in light of the rising incidence of breast cancer and the challenges presented by aggressive subtypes (C. Litzenburger and H. Brown, 2014). Endocrine therapies, such as tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors, have demonstrated efficacy in reducing breast cancer incidence, though considerations regarding long-term tolerability and survival benefits remain critical (J. Johnston and Cheung, 2018). The mechanistic evaluation of phytochemicals further reinforces the significance of natural agents in the chemopreventive landscape, highlighting their potential roles in inhibiting carcinogenesis. A comprehensive understanding of the diverse classifications of chemopreventive agents, including hormonal and dietary options, is essential for establishing their efficacy across various premalignant conditions (Suvarna et al., 2020). This holistic view of breast cancer prevention advocates for lifestyle modifications alongside pharmacological interventions, reflecting a contemporary understanding of risk reduction strategies. Conclusion: Recent research synthesizes the importance of genetic risk assessment and lifestyle changes, advocating for a combination of chemoprevention and surgical interventions for high-risk individuals (Tsukioki et al., 2023). Overall, the literature underscores a dynamic and multifaceted approach to breast cancer chemoprevention, emphasizing the integration of molecular insights, personalized strategies, and a comprehensive understanding of various preventive measures in the ongoing fight against breast cancer.
