Abstract

Introduction: Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are widely used for lip augmentation and perioral enhancement due to their ability to restore volume and improve facial aesthetics. This systematic review evaluates the efficacy and safety of HA fillers, focusing on clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and adverse events. Methods: We included five studies conducted between 2015 and 2022, comprising randomized controlled trials (RCTs), prospective multicenter studies, and open-label trials. Key parameters were evaluated to determine the risk of bias in each study.  Results: All studies demonstrated significant improvements in lip fullness and patient satisfaction, with common adverse events including injection site swelling, bruising, and pain, typically mild and transient. Conclusion: Hyaluronic acid fillers are effective and safe for lip augmentation, with most studies exhibiting a low risk of bias. Future research should focus on reducing bias in non-randomized trials and further validating long-term outcomes in larger, diverse populations.
