Abstract

Background: Endometriosis, affecting 5% to 15% of women, is linked to an increased risk of placenta previa and various obstetric and neonatal complications. These risks are significant even when considering the effects of assisted reproductive technologies. Methods: This systematic review, following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, analyzed English-language literature published between 2014 and 2024. Result: The study examined over 5000 publications sourced from respected platforms such as Science Direct, SagePub, and PubMed. Following the decision to subject eight publications to further scrutiny, a comprehensive examination of the complete body of literature was conducted. Conclusion: Endometriosis can lead to severe pregnancy complications, including placenta previa, preterm birth, and postpartum hemorrhage. Surgical intervention for endometriosis, including laparoscopic procedures, can exacerbate these risks. Robotic surgery, while advancing the treatment of endometriosis, may also contribute to these complications due to the interplay between endometriosis and pregnancy. This review underscores the need for careful consideration of surgical options and their potential impact on pregnancy outcomes.
